PACKAGING POLICY & ETHOS

We aim to minimise packaging, within the confines of hygiene and customer requirements. Where possible our packaging comes from recycled products and our bottles are made of 50% post-consumer recycled plastic. They can be recycled over again and we urge everyone to do so. There is an ongoing debate about plastic or glass, we do use plastic for most of our products, we don’t like it but feel that it is preferable for reasons of safety (children love our drinking yogurt!), weight (glass is heavier so more expensive to transport) and convenience. Also there is a view that glass recycling needs higher temperatures so uses more energy, so it’s complicated!

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

Court Lodge Farm is a dairy farm on the edge of Pevensey Levels, a Site of Special Scientific Interest renowned for its freshwater biodiversity and bird life. Our aim is to produce food that is good for people and the planet, whilst providing a safe home for the Trolilloes herd of cows and all the wildlife that depends on the farm. To this end we espouse the ways of Organic farming, which encompass animal welfare, stewardship and biodiversity principles, as well as ethical procurement and partnerships. Court Lodge Farm is committed to minimising our environmental impact and continually improving our environmental performance and staff working conditions. We respect the law, support universal human rights, protect the environment and aim to benefit the community where we work.
